I feel the problem with scrappy is that he is one dimensional
I mean yes the other characters are as one dimensional as cardboard but it's just I feel like in a way he was just Cousin Oliver. A marketing plug oppose to a real character.

Just like Jar Jar Binks
Thats what I understand from the criticism anyway. I don't think the character is that annoying. I just think they could have done a little more with him.

I made the Rick Mirer analogy simply because Scrappy's appearance initially caused a major spike in ratings. However, I think even a casual observer could see this as a desperate attempt by Hanna Barbara to recapture the show's popularity.
